DONATIONS

What types of donations are needed?

Women in Transition House has been extremely fortunate to have such a generous community supporting our cause. We receive countless phone calls, emails, and Facebook messages asking how people are able to assist us. We are so grateful! For those who are interested, there are a variety of ways to support our organization, and all are listed below.

Monetary donations

Any amount helps us achieve our goals

We appreciate any and all monetary donations. Monetary gifts go toward running our house and helping our residents in many ways.

If you would like to donate online with a credit card, you can visit our secure CanadaHelps donation page directly. Tax receipts* are generated automatically and are available on the CanadaHelps site.

We now accept e-transfers. The email address is transhouse@nb.aibn.com.

We also accept cheques made payable to Women in Transition House Inc. mailed to the address at the bottom of this page. Tax receipts* are emailed or mailed to you.

* All donations of $20 or more will receive an official receipt for income tax purposes.

Please follow us on facebook if you would like to help in the future. we appreciate it so much.

Our Amazon wish list

The ease of online shopping for donations

We’ve had several inquiries about an Amazon wish list for donations…so now we have one! Some individuals and businesses prefer online shopping as a way to donate, and it ensures they are purchasing exactly what we need. Paying a shipping fee may be more convenient than going to stores and arranging local delivery, and it also enables people to shop from afar. Prime members don’t pay for shipping so it saves that extra fee for people who would like to donate items that we need. Items purchased online are delivered straight to our door, which is so convenient. Like our regular wish list, we will update our Amazon Wish List as required.

Facebook requests

OUR COMMUNITY IS VERY GENEROUS!

While our residents are with us, and when they are ready to leave us and set up their own space, we sometimes have to ask for donations of new or gently used items. We may need clothing and outerwear in specific sizes, footwear, diapers, strollers, small appliances, kitchen items, bedroom furniture, bedding, living room furniture, etc. These donated items go straight to the person in need. Any time we put out a call for help, our community always pulls through and we can’t thank you enough! If you would like to help, please follow us on our Facebook page. We give details on our needs and how to reach us.

Fresh Start Program

Our Fresh Start program is an in-house initiative to help our clients set up their kitchens with the basics when they leave us and move into their own space. If you have new or gently used items you would like to donate, please give us a call. We accept items like cutlery, spatulas, cooking utensils, frying pans, toasters, kettles, cutting boards, baking tins, casserole dishes, Tupperware, hand mixers, coffee makers, small kitchen tools (vegetable peelers, potato mashers, can openers, measuring cups, pizza cutters, tongs, etc.).

Christmas Sponsorship Program

Every Christmas, our organization provides gifts for the women and children who were with us during that calendar year. We have been blessed with the community's assistance to make this program a success! There are several ways to help.

Sponsor a family

This consists of providing Christmas gifts for a mother and at least one child. We typically have families of a Mom and 1, 2, 3, or 4 children.

Sponsor a Woman

This consists of providing Christmas gifts for one person.

Sponsor the House

We have been fortunate to have families and companies sponsor the house the last few years. If you are interested in sponsoring the house and are looking for a specific item to donate, please get in touch to inquire. If you would like to make a smaller donation, we always accept the items listed above in our wish list.

If you and your family or business are interested in uniting to sponsor a small or large family, please contact us in late October or early November at sara.with@nb.aibn.com for more information.
